Rooting out crime at Eskom

"Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan said that, despite Eskom’s efforts to fight crime at the utility, more needs to be done to root out criminal activity at the state-owned enterprise."

"At the committee meeting, Gordhan said he wondered whether others ran things at Eskom while De Ruyter was focused on collecting gossip."

The problem statement can basically be extrapolated to every dysfunctional state enterprise, feel free to rattle of any of them: SAPS, DHA, Transnet, education.... corruption is so endemic that there is no hope of saving any of them bar... firing everyone and starting from scratch.

But the most significant of these, would be the law enforcement bodies. Since they are dysfunctional, there are no consequences to corruption, effectively making the exercise of corruption, into a formal and legitimate business avenue. Of additional significance, would be the fact that SAPS was the first body to be corrupted via mass cadre deployments. The first one to be "Kakistocrisized", if you will. And to this day, probably still the most dysfunctional of them all.

South africa has no chance, if SAPS doesn't get fixed. And there seems to be no chance of this happening.

That's a very good question Jamnadas, who was running things when he was busy looking down on all the luxury cars and fashionable clothing from his third floor office?

Yup. He saw his guavament buddies, with lifestyles waaaaaay in advance of their salary.
With his SARS connections, he could have easily set lifestyle audits in motion, with SARS then handing over to the cops.
But no. He did fokol.
Even slating ADR.
Bunch of arse covering criminals, the lot of them.

You should have seen his performance at SCOPA, a master of side tracking and deviation. I did not watch it all, just didn't have the stomach for it on the day. There were so many questions he did not answer but went off about unrelated topic such as what he did in SARS. One of the women from SCOPA was so side tracked that she even asked questions about SARS that were totally unrelated to Eskom

He said he was involved in hiring de Reyter. He said he did not know anything about the hiring of de Reyter (deny, deny, deny is one of his favourite tactics - watch him when he is asked about something he should be responsible for) . He also said he was hired because he was the best choice.

Gordhan is also quite the back stabber. He not only bad mouthed de Reyter but anyone he could blame to make it seem like everybody was no good except for himself.

He comes across as an arrogant egotistical thug that got me thinking about whether he was possibly involved in the woes of Eskom himself as he ignored de Reyters claims as there was apparently no proof and yet a little while later the proof is suddenly around.
