Anybody tried this method on a Samsung device? Apprently you save this update.zip file on the SD card, and root via recovery mode. Just wanted to know if it's generally safe, even though there are overall risks to rooting in general
Is it possible to root, make changes like removing apps, then unroot?
Security mostly. I'm not yet convinced about the safety of leaving a device in full-time root. All guides suggest a firewall and antivirus as first/recommended software to install once rooted. Why would you want to unroot?

I've seen this 'update.zip' file hanging about my phone but never ever used it for anything so was also wondering what its function was. I'm using cm10 on my SGS (i9000).
