Route Sentry and Netgear DG834 router

Good day

Has anybody successfully used Route Sentry with their Netgear DG834 router using it in "modem and router mode".

I want my one pc to use Route Sentry and the others on the network to have access to the internet as per usual. I do not want my one pc to act as a proxy for the other pc's.

All advice will be greatly appreciated.

The Netgear DG834 effectively lies to you when it says "Modem and Router mode". As far as I'm aware in this mode you're unable to use PPPOE at all to connect. You need to put the router into modem mode (and lose all the other functionality) for PPPOE to work.

Its usually router dependant wether u can run bridge and pppoe at the same time, usually bridge mode will be the only setting available to allow u to use WAN mini ports on your PC, atm I have a telkom Router/Modem which can only be set up to have either Bridge mode or have the settings on the modem itself.

This dosnt work for me so ive set it up in bridge mode and have aanother wireless access point/router which has my account details on it, this router basically connects my entire netwrok to the internet yet still allows me to use Wan Mini Ports on my PC's as the telkom modem/router is in bridge mode.

Not sure about the Billion/Telkom 5100 but I know for sure the earlier Marconi 4 port modem can run bridged PPPoE connections while still in router mode, so can the Billion 7300. As for the Netgear, why not email them and ask them?
