When I have this funny new protocol installed, will I still be able to connect to the net normally over lan with my router?

i.e. if I disable route sentry and the "dial-up" connections it creates, will I gain net connectivity in the normal way?

I dont understand what you mean. Maybe I didn't make myself clear:

To use route sentry to split local/international bandwidth you must install the RASPPPoE protocol for your network adapter (lan card).

I want to know if while not connected through the two "dialup" connections created by route sentry, will i have normal internet connectivity through my lan/router.

Experiment and see, if you don't need to use the RasPPPoE protocol just untick it.

On my PC I have RasPPPoE installed with routesentry. When I don't run routesentry, I can still normally connect via the LAN (as the rest of the PCs normally do in the house) so it doesn't cause problems. I did not remove any protocols from my LAN adapter though, only added the RasPPPoE one.

*edit* either something broke or I was wrong O-o

it will work fine

only problem is sometimes if you have those dial ups sitting doing nothing they pop up and keep asking to connect even though your connected which is rather annoying

That is annoying. But just click to connect your local. Who cares if that is connected and uses a bit of uploading. You should have plenty, its uncapped remember ;)

Sometimes it asks to connect because some anti-virus or something wants to do its daily updating thingee

Hi

Sorry to hijack the thread but it seemed appropriate as I have a similar problem..let me explain:

2 PC's
Telkom Mega 100WR Modem

I have route sentry and protocol on 1st PC...works beautifully.

I need to get the 2nd PC to connect to the 1st one so It can use the route sentry from the 1st. This I have discovered is not as easy as it looks. :)

I've heard it is not wise to do the same route sentry and RASPPPOE setup on the 2nd PC as it hammers the router and I will get a high ping and lag in the game (e.g Battlefield 2142)

01st PC (with route sentry)...My Network Places... properties

On the local bandwidth connection I have the following ticked:

TCP/IP
Client for MS Networks
QoS Packet Scheduler

On My Local Area Connection I have the following ticked:

Client for MS networks
File & Printer sharing for MS Networks
PPP over Ethernet Protocol
TCP/IP

Under dialup ..connection through Marvel Yukon..I have the following ticked:

ISDN Channel - Marvel Yukon...

These are the 3 little computer icon open in the task bar while on the web/playing games etc.

From my understanding the 2nd PC needs to connect to the 01st one as a Proxy Server. As much as I have tried..it will not do that...

Any suggestions PLEASE

Many thanks in advance ;)

Your router can probably take many connections, don't worry about it. Only problem would be the speed. If you a 4MB user, you're 'A for Away'
