I am currently linked to my friends ADSL via network and am looking to get my own cap. I've looked at either Webafrica or Openweb as they both give local and international bandwith in a single package. I would like to know whether I could set up my bandwith so that I can either use only my local bandwith or international bandwith? I do alot of local downloading and thus wouldn't want to use up my international bandwith. Would this affect my friend as he uses Telkom as his ISP?

Thanks

  1. As to how it affects your friend:

It all depends on how the network is setup.

You're friend will have to setup his router in bridge mode so you can connect via pppoe (setup like a 'dial up' connection) over the network. You can then use the connection without affecting him
  2. For your other question:

You cannot use international and local separately on these accounts. Say you choose the 3gb/27gb option.. the initial 3gb is used up with international and local combined, after that you are bound to local only. So you could, in fact, use up your initial 3gb 'international' cap by using only local bandwidth.

you dont need to get the account with openbrowse.......just get the ordinary local only, and when the 1gb prepaid is used up just get another one :)
