Hi Guys

Yesterday I upgraded my line from 384 Kb to 4 Meg :p

I applied for the conversion in the morning and when I got home in the evening my line was syncing at 4096/384.

The problem however is that my router now cannot make a connection to my ISP. I have tried two separate ISP accounts and neither of them work.
When I was on my 384 Kb line, everything worked flawlessly!!!

I phoned the helpdesk last night and after holding for 47 mins I eventually got someone to help me. They said the line was syncing fine and we tried to create a PPPOE connection from my PC with the router in Bridging mode but that also failed. After resetting the router to default settings and trying to login with the Telkom guest account, I was eventually given a reference number and told that someone will get back to me.

I am currently using a ZyXel Router supplied by Telom and my line stats are as follows:

Downstream Atteunation: 8 db
Downstream SNR: 12 db
Upstream Attenuation: 6 db
Upstream SNR: 10 db

The thing that worries me is that I am literally sitting on top of my exchange and I have such a low SNR. Yet I had absolutely no problems what so ever when I was syncing at 384 Kb

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

yeah be careful - they sometimes "deactivate" your line . (not being able to reach even telkomsa.net/telkom.co.za on guest acc)

its like in the days of self-install - and you have to go to the activation page..

enter order # and tel# and whala - problem resolved..

sounds like this has occured.

everything got a GOOD reset and a NO for GO - just phone 375375 and ask them to check if it is activated - refer them to the selfinstall website activation part.
