Hi, I am not technically minded, so please bear with me.:o

I have a Telkom Mega 100WR wirless router.

I need to change the router/modem password details in 10.0.0.2 with my Afrihost details that they have sent and I've managed to log in to 10.0.0.2, clicked on "Quick Start" and "Connection Scan" but when I do a scan, it gives me this message: "Please Contact your Internet Service Provider to
confirm that your broadband connection is active and to get the correct line settings for manual configuration".

Can I click "Restart Router" option? Is this safe, will I lose anything and if not, can I then simply put in my Afrihost username/password with their config details and blissfully go on with my internet browsing/recieving emails as before?

I am currently working from my laptop on wireless, can I continue to do these steps from this laptop, or do I have to go to the main pc where the router is plugged in to?

I have called Afrihost, no reply. I have sent an email and got a ticket number, but I guess I'm a little impatient!

Thanks!

Jenni

Go to quickstart, click disconnect first.

Enter new user & pass, click connect, wait a minute till it connects.

Then Click on Save Settings, (Top left corner of the page)

Done.

Thank you mh348 and Smooth Criminal for your replies, when I click on quickstart this is what I see on my screen:

Connection Scan

Click on Scan to detect Protocol, Encaps, VPI & VCI.

Then: Scan / Cancel

Thats it, no option to disconnect that I can see.

(PS, how do I attach images to my post, I wanted to put an image of the print screen to show you?)

Just an update..

Have found out that I needed to go to "Advanced".. "Wan"... and click on my current ISP providers details. Put in my new Afrihost username/password, "apply"..."save details" and "Restart router". I am still connected, but have no idea if I'm connected via Afrihost or my previous ISP!?

Still receiving emails even although I had not set up my email incoming & outgoing to Afrihost.

Start->Run->"cmd" for a dos prompt
Type "tracert www.google.com" from the output of that you can deduce whether you are using SAIX(Telkom) or IS(Afrihost)

Thank you Ponder!

Took a glance in my Client Zone at Afrihost and I see I am already using a couple of kb! So that also answers my question.

Just got a call from Afrihost support, and offered my services at support, I have just learned so much!
