Hi, I have a Telkom 4 port adsl router connected to a gigabyte wireless router. When I put in the ip address for the router 192.168.0.254 it picks up the configuration for the gigabyte wireless router not not the telkom marconi router. I tried 10.0.0.2 also & it brings back a page can not be displayed.

Interesting ... I also use a gigabyte wireless router (which one do you have?), and AFAIK the default IP for the Gigabyte is 192.168.1.1 (check on the 1st or second page of the manual).

You best bet is to start the configuration over, as then you will know exactly which IP is which. Pop a paperclip into the reset button on the Gigabyte, it will restore factory settings (just make sure you copied all your settings for reconfig). You should then connect your pc/notebook via one of the Ethernet ports to the Gigabyte (just make sure you are on the same net eg. 192.168.1.x.) I am running mine on 192.168.2.xxx, and assigning IP's to my devices using the Gigabyte's DHCP server.

Keep in mind, I am using iBurst, and not ADSL, so I might be talking bollocks wrt the link between the ADSL router and the wireless router, but to me it sounds like there is a bit of an IP mix-up

Thanks, im using a B49G gigabyte router. I did not setup the network. It was done by a IT contractor that left the company. Im stuck with the network but just want to make router changes to the telkom marconi router. Cannot just seem to get to the marconi router configuration screen.

do a tracert to an internet address.. it will pass thru the ip(not matter what it is) of the ADSL router before going onto the wan ip.. ie..

Tracing route to dsl-mud.org [63.166.155.222]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1
2 19 ms 19 ms 18 ms dsl-146-112-01.telkomadsl.co.za [165.146.112.1]

etc. Assuming the router is making the PPPoE connection.

Other thing is maybe the wireless router is set up to act as the router in which case it may have the ip adress of your gateway/adsl router.

You did check the lan setting of your ethernet card right?
