Router connected but no-ip assigned

Shame 1derboy got through to the worst biatch with pms....the techies at Telkom that I have spoken to have all been quite clued up...been very lucky. Just keep insisting or otherwise ask to speak to the manager as per JohnnyQ.

I have had similar problems on a number of client's adsl connections. Seems that when they(meaning the server at telkom side) renew the session, it cuts the connection on your side, but something goes gaga on their side and it holds on to old session info, thus no new session can be initiated.

You have to call the dreaded 0800375375 and tell them to reset your session.

I noticed this problem a few weeks ago as well. I'll lose connectivity but it doesn't reconnect. When I log in to the router there's no IP address assigned. After a few hours, it reconnects. I noticed it was a session issue when I visited WebAfrica's DSL online console and checked the Authentication page.... to my surprise I saw that 2 IP's were assigned to my line (but same lineport number, so not concurrent connections). So yes, the old session is not properly terminated on their side.

Thanks a ton Johnny!!! It worked and everything is fine again. :D Man, I love this forum and all the people on it :D

Good to see I'm not the only who gets this prob from time to time ......... :D
