Hi

every 3 seconds my wrt54gl running tomato firmware (1.06) scans every channel in the 2.4ghz spectrum!!!! This causes constant disconnects with the AP

I can set the router to only can every 30min but as soon as I close the GUI it goes back to 3 seconds...

How do I hard code the router to not scan at all? or at least on every 30 seconds??

install dd-wrt :P

wl roam_threshold -100

Stops it from searching for a better signal.
Its set to -70 by default. If the signal is worse than this value, it scans for a better signal.

Daffy, I get an error messege with "wl roam_threshold -100"

# wl roam_threshold -100
eth1: Operation not supported
var unrecognized name, type -h for help

I tried this command: "wl roam_trigger -100" but no successs

# wl roam_trigger -100
eth1: Invalid argument
roam_trigger
Set the roam trigger RSSI threshold. (integer)

.....?

Ok i got it too work

wl roam_trigger -100...... i was testing the command on my home AP and it didnt work.... The command only works on client routers

Thanks daffy

No problem.
Just remember that this setting will get lost on reboot, so set a startup script or something to do it on boot.

Is there a similar command to wl roam_trigger that works with AP's in WDS???

I have 2 routers in wds and they have a low signal too... Do routers in AP/WDS also scan the network for a better signal?? If so how can I turn it off?

Thanks

Nope, roam_trigger is only for clients.
If you're getting drops on WDS/AP, I suggest forcing to a lower data rate.
