Router firewall causing router to restart

I've been using a re branded billion router supplied by telkom for a while now, but have never worried with the hardware firewall. I decided to enable it the other day but since doing, I've had endless problems.

The router will randomly restart itself. This is the main problem I'm having. Is there any reason this should be happening. I know it's good to have as many layers of security as possible, but is the router firewall really necessary, I've done fine without up till now.

Thought about that, unfortunately telkom was allowed to adjust the firmware so their settings are "pre-loaded" from the time I got the router. They change everything, right down to the name and model of the router so it's incredibly difficult to find out which exact router model's firmware to use to update. From what I've read, this is a billion 800vgt router and I've seen a few posts of people having issues with this model. Telkom renamed it to the mega 200vwr. Going to keep checking, you are right there has to be some sort of firmware update out there. Even if it bricks the bastard, I'll give it a try.
