Ive busy moving over from wireless to ADSL and would like to know which router is best for me.
Line - 4meg ADSL
SP - Vox 75g Fat Pipe (Bolt Uncapped)
Ive been recommended the Billion 7300NX but looked around net and reviews are not that impressive. Main usage, modem connected directly to pc via cable for maximum online gaming, simracing mainly but would like to have wifi features mainly confined to my room, phone etc.

Is it because of sp provider i been recommended the Billion router ? (Im very new to this ADSL-router setup)

So basically im looking for the best adsl-router setup for the best gaming online experience, price not a problem, but not ridicules either.
Please help-Thx

+1 for the TPLink W8980. I replaced my trusty D-Link a few months ago and am really happy with this router/modem. Very easy to set up and the wifi coverage is great on both bands. For areas where you need a boosted signal, I can also recommend the WA850RE extender - works very well on the 2.4 channel.

That tp-link didn't support remote desktop (port couldn't be forwarded) so if this is a priority for you. Maybe give it a miss. Unless they fixed the issue in an update.

Is this important and do i ever need to, Remote Desktop <-- to control one's device with another device, port forwarding, not sure about this, but again should i be worried ?
Main reason for me going from wireless to ADSL is online gaming, will do a bit of streaming and downloading, and would like a bit wifi in my room, im still leaning towards the TP-8980, but also still open to other suggestions.

Netgear DGN2200.
Asus DSL-N66U

^My recommendations. The netgear is popular around these parts. Asus is a little extravagant but will last you a while.

Asus DSL-N66U <------R3000, do i need this, i mean yea its the best one out of the lot, but look like the others will do the same thing for R1000-R1200.
How do u mean it will last awhile, robust, software ?

VDSL, like the Asus software (personal preference) and they are built to last. Replaces 2 TP-Links so not really impressed with them. NetGear comes in at a close second for something along that price range.
Bought this 2 months back and I couldn't be happier. Think another member, Mike Smit has the same one or a version before. Ask him if you need various opinions.

TL;DR : It's great at what it does. If you have the cash. Get it. Something cheaper, get the WP8980 if you don't need remote desktop.

If you don't manage a Media pc or run various VM's then you should be fine. Fine router all in all.

Hi Guy's,

Sorry a little late to this party....

I have the DSL-N66U and if you want to use it on VDSL, maybe its not the greatest choice right now. The Pace 921vnx is way more stable, but certainly does not have the features of the DSL-N66U - VPN pass thru I need. I eventually got the DSL-N66U going two weeks ago on my 20mbps VDSL and it was very unstable, it would sync, connect and within minutes to hours it would disconnect and eventually give up trying to sync on the DSL WAN. During one of the infrequent up times I filled out the built in customer feedback forms in the setup API, and two days ago I got an unexpected reply from one of the engineers at Asus, he provided me with a link to the latest unpublished firmware and settings required. It is now a great deal better, however not quite there yet. So its still work in progress, but at least the guys are working on it.

I can't comment on the ADSL performance of the router.

Thanks for the VDSL review. Hopefully it's sorted before the MSAN in this area gets up and running.

Must have been fixed because you can manually specify the port, protocol, IP etc.
