Hi All,

Anyone have any tips on a decent router to get that will stream 1080p successfully to my media center without stuttering or going crazy with buffering?

currently on an older linksys wireless-g and looking to upgrade after a lightning strike but would prefer something that can handle the throughput needed to stream large 1080p content.

thanks

I dont run wireless anymore for media streaming tbh... I have a netgear gigabit router, the model unfortunately I cant recall...

Look at the high end Netgears or Linksys - Iv been able to stream a 1080p 8gig movie over 300mbps wifi from a NAS to a HTPC.
I used the Netgear N900.

I remember I did some research about this a year or two ago. Unless things have changed dramatically, the only solution is a cable. There might be routers available to do this but the reality is that there is so much interference and noise by the time the signal reaches the devices it has lost much of its quality. Your best option will be to run a cable through your roof, unless this is really not an option then you'll have to find a decent router and hope that the signal carries.

I doubt you will get good results if you are going though a wall....

I use Ethernet over power... its expensive but way more stable than wireless.

I'm curious to try this, which units do you use and would you recommend them?

My TP-LINK WA901ND 300Mbps Wireless-N AP streams 1080p no problem to my TV's embedded wireless-N adpater.
