Hi everyone,

I received my iBurst desktop modem today and if i connect it directly to my laptop it works great. Signal hovers around 80%. My problem is as soon as I connect it to my Belkin router only the browsing works, and gtalk. Msn and mirc won't connect. My router doesn't support a mtu setting lower than 1440. I spoke to iBurst and we even tried drtcp but with no luck. I tried a 1492 and 1452 (I think) but I still can't connect to mirc or msn. Browsing is also much slower via the router.

iBurst suggests I get a new router that can support a 1352 setting, but I don't want to buy a new router if I don't have to. Surely there is some other way?

Also, if I need to get a new router, which one will definitely work with iBurst?

Thanks so much.

Any router will work fine, as long as it doesn't have a built in ADSL modem, and doesn't have the same problem as yours.

Are you sure its not a port forwarding problem with MSn and Mirc btw? You have to forward the ports on the router, you can get all the info for that via www.portforward.com

But you should get a new router rather, setting the MTU to 1352 is pretty crucial, cant you just sway your one from the shop you bought it at?

Well a option that might be possible is conecting to iBurst rather to a normal Ethernet port on the router and using ICS to connect.. The nyou can set the MTU with Dr.TCP on your PC. Im not really sure how this works, but the point is then you might as well not have the router, so rather just get a new one.

Thanks for all the input. I'm reading up :D

I dug out my old noname brand router and everything works on that. But I guess I will get a new router because that one has many limitations.

oh I still have 7 gigs of sentech till the end of the month, I intend to use it :P
