I recently upgraded my line from Telkom and was enjoying 6 Mbps speed until today when I woke up to find I had no internet connection. I log onto my router and checked my adsl stats and saw that my modulation had changed from adsl2/2+ to adsl g.dmt. On adsl 2/2+ I would get speeds up to 6.5 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up but now adsl g.dmt gives me 0 down 0 up. I have already tried resetting my router but it has not worked.

Also I have a 300 Mbps wireless N adsl 2/2+ modem router from trend net. Is that the problem?

Similar thing happened to me. Was syncing stabley at 20mbps on ADSL 2+ after upgrade last week for a few days. Now im back on g.dmt syncing at much lower speeds. I messaged @Telokm ZA about my problem but as of writing haven't heard back from them.

Back to your problem, have you tried to force your router to attempt the connection using ADSL2 modulation mode?

Yes I have. And after I reboot my router it was still on adsl g.dmt.

Somehow though my router is back to adsl 2+ now about 5 hours after the problem started but it's only on 3 Mbps instead of 6 Mbps.

Could it be that my line is just unstable? Wouldn't changing to adsl g.dmt make it more stable instead of making me have no connection at all?

I live about 500m away from my exchange so I doubt it's attenuation. Maybe my snr is too low. As of now my noise margin is 6 down and 6 up.
