Asus zenwifi XT8 router overnight after at the earliest 22pm and 3am does not connect to ONT.

Lights on telkom ONT including LAN port is green.

I reset router after changing Cat cable between router and ONT.

Still not connecting to ONT? According to Telkom and all lights on ONT, the fibre works. Not loadshedding either.

My fibre LTE works.

Weird thing is that the ewelink and Sonoff stuff which are Local control not working either.

Frustrating as surely unlikely that the WAN port of router would suddenly malfunction.

Puzzling issue is also that LAN on ONT is green. If WAN port on router malfunctions, should it not impact on colour of ONT?

Any case, I'll have to test the router somewhere else or pull out one of my old routers. Hopefully I still have some.

What a PIA!

I have the same issue with my Sonoff stuff but I changed routers from a TP Link Archer D50 to the TP Link AX52
ewelink is not picking up my Sonoff, need to set some time to trouble shoot that.

Weirdly enough router now has internet.

But whole mesh has to be set up again!

Horrible suspicion that I should have waited and that maybe issue was on Telkom side?

Any case - its done. Will set up other mesh nodes later today.

And now no internet connection again!

Anybody know if issues with Telkom in Pretoria East?

Same here. Rebooted router a couple of times with no luck. Switched routers, still no connection.

Thanks

I was getting frustrated as I have reset and installed router a few times.

Now I at least know its not a router issue.

But ONT shows everything fine? I am at a loss.

Will reset one more time and then leave it for the day.

I hope its simply a telkom fibre issue because I have reset my router and it still doesn't get internet from the ONT.

What an irritating situation.

If its the router, as unlikely as that seems, it will be a PIA to get it changed.

Seems like Openserve issue
Their app shows everything fine?

Absolutely frustrating not to know what the issue is.

Alternate is to:

1. Use another router
1.1 an old router
1.2 use original 3 mesh and take out the XT8
2. Link everything to alternate backup LTE network

But if an openserve issue then obviously a waste of time.

Is Telkom your ISP? They told me they had issues during loadshedding. Phoned 10210 waited 10 minutes. Agent picked up and seemed to know what was going on. Created a new password for the Telkom username. And I entered it and the internet started working after a reset

Yep Telkom.

Will try calling. Thanks

States outside their hours. So nobody to assist. What a crap service.

Hang ten, That has happened a few times for me as well on Vumatel. Shows connection, but you get zero throughput on the line. Turns out they were doing maintenance, You will just have to wait it out.

Same problem here.

Fibre is "up", ONT seems to be working, but router fails to connect.
Looks like once you lose your PPPoE connection, it doesn't reconnect again.

My recent MikroTik log:

To me it looks like my router manages to authenticate, but the PPP IP session cannot be established (ie, my router cant get an IP address from Telkom)

Thanks guys. Noticed it 3am this morning and thought an issue on my side.

Will await until tomorrow.

Can't you just connect a laptop or so directly into the ONT (via a lan cable) and see if you get internet.

Plugged laptop into ONT. No access to internet. Shows limited.

So guess its the openserve side.

Will call tomorrow IF I get time!
