Yesterday I found I was without internet access. My billion router's PPP light is off. I've had no connectivity issues for months and now at a critical stage of a project I'm without internet connectivity.

The router reports the line is synced and connected and my ADSL led is lit - just the PPP is off.

Anyone have any ideas? I called Telkom and they did some checking and they think it might be a line fault.

I've tried resetting the router with no luck.

So the line is synched?

What does it say under the connections option on the first page of the router?

I had this problem a long time ago, it was solved by Telkom Resetting my line from their side. :)

Is Telkom your ISP as well?
If not, check with your ISP as well just in case it's a problem on their side. ;)

Either you are capped or phone Telkom again and tell them to do an ADSL port reset or refresh.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm pretty sure I have been capped - I checked my usage and I have 0GB left.

But surely I can still get local access to telkom.co.za?

How does being capped affect my PPPoE authentication (I presume that is why the PPP is off)?

TIA

It shouldnt be off. The PPP light will still be on and you should still be able to browse local sites.

When you still have local left then it should still be connected.
Sounds like a problem on your account....

Phone telkom.... :(

Thanks for all the help!

I called Telkom and asked for them to to a port reset and viola - PPP light is back on and I'm connected.

I wouldn't have gotten this resolved the assistance of this thread :)
