Router problem

I'm pretty sick of being insulted by just about everyone on the forum, now even the mods it seems.
Just answer this, when you reset your router, was the router powered on at the time, or was it powered off?

And if you feel insulted, tough, you are often sarcastic & have insulted the mods on several occasions.

Pooky - Had you done what feo suggested on the first page we might be able to help more.

What device are you using to connect to the router? iPhone, PC, toaster?

Is it wireless or wired?

Are you sure it is on the same network? If you're using DHCP try setting the IP address and subnet manually and vice versa.

This is a long shot, but make sure your router is connected directly to the phone line and not through the POTS filter.

For ADSL, you NEVER connect an ADSL router/modem through a filter. ONLY analogue phone devices must be connected through a filter and they MUST be connected through a filter, never directly to the line.

Thanks bwana will try those things. I am using a lan cable to a pc. ic: the router was on when resetting was tried. Other people namely toxicbunny are sarcastic constantly. I dont see everyone being mean to her?

While I can't offer any new advice, I can ofer my sympathies. I just did an ADSL self install on Friday, and the Mega 105 did not make a new friend in me. We were on the verge of returning it, when finally it just started working as if by magic.

I would suspect it's the router, as I've read many horror stories on here about the thing. Wish Telkom would just give out better devices. It's swak that the customers on the 4Mb line get the Billion, and everyone else the Mega.

Ok progress, and what happened to the LEDs on the router, did any of the LEDs change in any way?

Well considering that TB isn't female, it does appear as if you are being sarcastic and mean, you know where to find and edit your ignore list, do it.

For the 3rd time Pookmeister, just do an ipconfig /all so we can see if the PC is at least getting its IP properly from DHCP. If not you can set a static IP temporarily and set the gateway and DNS servers manually. Now stop being so gay and emo and just listen...

Hey guys sorry I haven't been able to reply. I haven't been at home the whole day, been using my phone to post and ran out of airtime.

Well my Mom took the router in to Telkom and they swapped it out, no questions asked, and it's working fine now.

Thanks for all your help.
