Hi,

I've started helping out at this school and my networking skills are really noob.

The heavy weather resetted the modem/router's (Planet ADE-3100 model) settings to factory defaults, and now I must reconfigure it. But I'm not getting it right though...

First, let me give a little background of the setup. Everything worked before the router was resetted, so I only think the problem lies with the router. There is one DNS server, 192.168.1.10. And the routers ip is 192.168.1.200. All of the pcs and the modem/router is connected with a switch. Now all of the pcs is configured with a fixed ip between 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.199, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.200 and DNS 192.168.1.10.

I've tried to configure the router, but the problem is, the only way I can get the internet to work on a pc is if I enter the ISP's DNS ip (196.41.128.181) into every pc. But that is just a quick fix, but how must i configure the router to work in the network where all the pc's DNS can stay 192.168.1.10??

Here is the manual link

Thanx, much appreciated. I really need help here, I will be gratefull until the day I die, this hero will be in every story that I tell my grandchildren :D

Are you sure that the DNS server is OK, and working like it should.
You could also set the router to do DNS.

EDIT:
Would you not need to DISABLE DNS on the router? Maybe the router and DNS server are conflicted because they are both doing DNS lookup?
