sup guys okay so i have a billion 800vgt router problem is something happened to its upload snr just went down the other day from 12.0 to 1.2 which is odd anyway i just want to use this router for its wireless i am back on my old Marconi 4port router (which works like a champ) anyway is there a way i can set the billion up as a hub of some sort just to use its wireless and how would i do this i am a noob when it come to networking so step for step would be appreciated. :)

Yes you can do that. Connect the 2 routers with a LAN cable and then setup the Billion router's wireless as an Access Point (Bridge). I'm not sure what Billion is calling it on their web interface, but it should mention something about an AP (Access Point) and Bridge I suppose. If its in that mode, your PC should automatically receive an IP address from your Marconi router like it did via LAN cable.

Once you have it working, ensure that you have enabled all the necessary security features - eg. WPA2 encryption / hiding the SSID.

What i did was turn off the DHCP on the wireless router (avoid having a rogue dhcp) and then just the cable to the normal router...

but wouldn't that cause me to lose the wireless?

No. You have to disable DHCP on the wireless router, otherwise you'll have 2 DHCP servers running on the same network.

Hi Zimmy you can setup your 800vgt router as a hup you need to log on the web interface of the 800VGT router the instructions are as follows: connect Billion 800VGT with LAN cable and open web browser by the address bar type the default IP which is '10.0.0.2'>log on dialog box will appear enter "admin" for the username and password then click ok> click on configuration> LAN >DHCP server> now click on DHCP Relay Agent > Click next> at this stage you need to enter the IP address of the first router> apply and save the configuration> you can now connect the first router with LAN cable to the Billion 800VGT the computers connected the to the Billion 800VGT will obtain the IP address for the first router:D
