Hi There,

I need some router suggestions.

Reason: I have a Billion 7300NX, and i am having sync issues with my dsl. My SNR normally sits at around 9.5-11, but every so often it drops to -4 (negative 4). Then when i restart my router it is back to the usual (for a while) then it drops again.

I have had dsl for just over a month now, and the first 3 weeks it was flawless. it only started about 2 weeks ago when we had a power spike / failure during load shedding. At that point my inverter's fuse popped and my NAS popped (TOTAL FAILURE OF DEVICE AND DRIVES)

I struggle to accept that it might be a copper issue, but then again i have to say that i ain't no expert.

Does it sound like a router issue? if so, what do you suggest as a good alternative wireless broadband router?

Budget? ~R700 like the last router? I would also invest in a surge protector, it might come useful now.

To test if it's the router and not the line ask a friend or neighbor if you could swap routers for a day. You can also get the Telkom pace router, they refund it if given back within the first week and swap it out for the first year. Also supports VDSL, not sure that is useful for you though. It's a bit more expensive than the billion though.

Buy it at a Telkom store if you do. Else, there are quite a few better routers out there, this one just happens to have an allowance of a refund within the first week.
