Rooting a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition

I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. I was thinking of rooting it but I have absolutely no idea on how I would do it and if it would be a good idea. I believe that routing dumps the VC added crap and it should run faster and have better battery life.

I want to use it now to "run my business", send and receive emails, send quotes to clients and use word or excel. Open Office is free but don't know if it is Android compatible etc

I did a factory reset today and before I waste the 700 od MB on a software update to Android 4. last millennium I thought I would speak to you in the know!!

So with all that babble, please give me some suggestions as to what I should use/do. Thanks guys

First, it's rooting :)
Secondly, I think a few bank apps don't work on rooted devices so first think about if you want to use your bank on your tablet. If you do then don't root it.

That's kuk funny. Will do banking from my S6. So that's a nope. Think I must change the Title.

^^ Taking above in mind. I would suggest CyanogenMod, but they are no longer.. See if ununtu mobile has been developed for your phone

Ok so my device is Rooted. Now I want to "upgrade" from Android 4.3. The standard software update only goes to 4.4.2 Seriously, I'm sure I must be able to get something newer. Any ideas?

Check out Lineage OS it's what CM has been rebranded as

I used to be able to run the FNB App on my previously rooted S6, but the fingerprint login functionality would not work because it was rooted.

Hope you get sorted OP.
