Hi All

I need some advice on the following, a client of mine needs to route internet traffic through one pc before it goes to the router, in essence using the pc as a default gateway but still being able to resolve dns against the router. I have tried everything i know and nothing is working. Any advice would be much appreciated.

What i have tried:

Desktop 1 ip config is x.x.x.254 gateway x.x.x.200(router) dns 168.95.1.1

Desktop 2 ip config is x.x.x.50 gateway x.x.x.254 dns 168.95.1.1

Desktop 1 can ping the whole network and internet
Desktop 2 can ping whole network but no internet

I need to use desktop 1 as the gateway as all vpn traffic is routed through it and runs openvpn software on it.

Please help!!

Just a thought but if this is a Windows box shouldn't Internet Connection sharing be setup if you want traffic to actually go thru the Windows box. From what I seem to understand is that the Desktop 1 PC Establishes a VPN that all the other clients should use?

How do you enable internet sharing on a network card. Desktop 1 establishes a vpn with pretoria and all the other machines look at desktop 1 to connect to the vpn

On the VPN Connection on Desktop 1 (I am assuming it is some sort of VPN Dial-up that connects over the ADSL setup) you should be able to set a setting to allow this connection to be shared. Can't recall what the screen looks like exactly. Right click the VPN Connection, then properties and then advanced. There should be something there. Just keep in ming that sometimes setting a windows xp machine up to be a Internet Connection Sharing machine changes the ip range of the lan card to the 192.168.*.* range. Although this can be changed again.
