Are they using sattelite connectivity perhaps?

Wait a waste of international bandwidth, London,Amsterdam, Ashburn,USA
At least in Namibia they have a local SAIX link to SA.

All those international links are satellite using Taide, Norway or IP Planet, Israel
British Telecom as is used by Bots Telecom those are some of the popular ones used in Africa.
