Hi all.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between routing, bridged and half bridged mode. I've got a Planet ADE-3400. The first two mode can be selected from the wizard page on my routers web interface. The other (half bridged) can only be selected from the advanced panel. Also how does each of these settings affect services that I run on my PC (eg a web server).

Thanks in advance

Routing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Router

Bridging:
ADSL modem not involved in any of the networking stuff

Half bridged:
Modem does DHCP

There should be somebody here who can give you more detailed info... I don't toy with this daily.

I forgot to mention that if you run a webserver from home running PPPoE from the PC instead of the ADSL router will be better should you want to use Dynamic DNS services. You can still do it if you opt for the router to handle it, but it will take some configuration...

It has been covered on the forum before, but please PM me if you struggle.
