RSA ID number validation ?

@Necuno, are you wanting to validate using js, or some server-side script?

its an desktop application;

my initial attempt was to validate because the users was putting crap into the system, but as a dev i can only do so much then the user should start doing their work properly and stop putting **** into the system.

-i mean till what ends to i have to go to ensure clean data ?, surely the end user plays a part too ?

It's alive!!! :erm: :D

@psynergy42: That site is good for one id number, but useless to a developer wanting to automate it.

hmm no terms & conditions, or privacy notices on that site.

Lets all submit our ID numbers to the 419 scammers :whistle:

Yeah - that script only works about 70% of the time. Since a lot of ID numbers get loaded onto our web-based solution (we provide a human capital management solution), we have a lot of problems with ID validation. I've tried several different versions of the same algorithm, but clients keep on complaining that some ID numbers get rejected. So we had to revert back to only checking on length (13 digits long) and first 6 digits vs. the date of birth. Sloppy, I know, but usable for now... (Plus a LOT less complain-mails from clients)

Odd? In over 2 million registrations and I've never had an issue with the validation. Admittedly probably every one of these ID numbers were issued in the last 10 years.
