Rubber mountings for fans?

Nope. Those are the gaskets I was talking about. Trying to get rid of some niggling rattles and vibration and those gaskets never work. The vibration goes through the screws anyway.

I might just have to order from some online overseas store... as usual. :D I suppose because an LED can't be attached to these things they won't be available here. :D

Some of the Zalman fans seem to come with the Anti-Vibration Silicone Pins - but you can't seem to buy them separately in SA.

Best bet is maybe from eBay.co.uk - just have to find free/low shipping.
 
I'm going to order them from performance-pcs.com. It's about R10 per set for a single fan which is fine. Stuff is small it'll just be a few dollars for the shipping.

I was going mad yesterday. There was a clattery sort of hum/rattle from the machine. Started unplugging everything and eventually found it inside the power supply. Stupid aluminium chassis transmits every damn noise. Tried mounting the PSU on some rubber pads but that didn't help. The fan in it seems to clatter since it turns so slow. Going to kiss the warranty goodbye on that thing and open it up, mount the fan on the rubber grommets and run the fan lead outside of it. The 14cm fans on the side also didn't live up to their smooth and quiet specs (as to be expected) so those are the ones I want to mount on rubber mountings.

Surprising the fan for the H50 is the most well behaved, but I think it can do better with the fan grille cut out of the chassis.

This is what happens when have nothing better to do on a Sunday. :D
