Travelstart is seeking a dynamic Ruby on Rails developer with deep domain knowledge and plenty of hands-on experience to upgrade our current product into an automated beast of a machine! Beyond the required technical ability, we are looking for individuals with a "just do it" attitude, a passion for building awesome stuff. The work you do will have an immediate impact on our customers, how they view and interact with the site as well as the teams that service these customers.

The main purpose of this role is to build new features, upgrade current features, suggest better ways of achieving automation as well as integrate with other Java products. We are not just looking for a developer, but a man/women with vision who is willing to take a ROR platform to the next level.

The key deliverables in this role will be to:
  • Developing and owning the most critical parts of our*system;
  • Writing code that can work at massive scale;
  • Creating and implementing new features in line with the business roadmap;
  • Make sure the CMS is aligned with best practice SEO standards with the guidance of the team;
  • Integrating features from the main system with the ROR platform so they work as one;
  • Analyse, design and develop solutions;
  • Work closely with business analysts, end users, and technical staff to meet customer requirements;
  • Research and develop new capabilities and innovations;
  • Contribute to the maintenance of our enviable service level; and
  • Maintain best-practice methodologies and industry standards for software development.

Listed below are the minimum requirements with regards to skills, competencies and abilities needed for this role:
  • 2+ years’ Experience and knowledge with Ruby and Ruby on Rails web Framework;
  • Experience and knowledge in web front end development using Javascript, JQuery, CoffeeScript, bootstrap and CSS;
  • Experience and knowledge in Ruby testing frameworks such as Rspec, Test Unit or MiniTest and Test Driven Development;
  • Experience and knowledge in database design and implementation, such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis;
  • Experience building and scaling distributed, highly*available systems;
  • Experience and knowledge with Agile methodology will be an advantage; and
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools and technology.

We are looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer who will fit into the Travelstart family.*The successful candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analysis skills with an ability to think outside the box;
  • Good time management skills;
  • Excellent client facing skills;
  • Willingness to work with a variety of technologies; and
  • Knowledge in network and server infrastructure management and AWS.
