How many users on a lan doing emails and light web surfing can share one 9 gig iBurst connection, assuming no ptp or other heavy stuff? Where will the bottleneck be?

It is like asking how long is a piece of string but what kind of numbers are there out there? I know of one with 50 email only users. Is this close to the limit?

I currently share my connection with 3 PC' two light, and me heavy. I think you will have a problem using up the 9gigs though on just light surfing and email, you will probably reach a bottleneck with your speeds and especially latency before you can connect enough PC's to lightly use up 9gigs. But then again the unshaped service might help you out.

I dont really even want to take a guess, but I thinik 10 should work okay if you have good signal. But liek I say, more might be fine, depends how many will be used at the same time and wether they are for day time or after hours use.
Im shure 6+ could work, but maby its actually alot higher?

I have 2 wired desktops, 2 wireless desktops, and 3 wireless laptops on my network. Haven't experienced any bottlenecks. Okay, so nothing like the 50 you mention... but G9 is good to share.

depends dude. you get users who know how to send chain letter emails, visit the odd website and do internet banking, then you get the users that download lots of stuff, visit high resource sites (flash, java, etc)

Well he said assuming no heavy stuff.. but you cant control everything..

Thanks for the input so far.

If you take an iGo lite user for argument's sake as a benchmark light user, theoretically, 45 could share a G9 bundle and with a top-up of 3 x 3 Gb, you could get 90 users sharing the connection. There are obviously other bottlenecks which will kick in.

Would 60 users be pushing the limits?

I think you will simply be pshing it way to far in terms of the speed those users wil get. If even 20 of them use it at the same time (likely with 50-60 users) it will slow to a crawl.

I dont think the bandwidth should be you main concern.
