Rum Lovers thread

These are all sipping rums. If I'm looking at a cocktail, I drink Ron Zacapa 23 Solera or Mount Gay Black Barrel, usually with tonic.

For a sipping rum I highly recommend the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. It is an incredibly smooth and tasty rum and you can also buy it locally at http://wildaboutwhisky.com/product-category/rum/

Not sure what your budget is though?

Some of those rums I posted about are R1k per bottle.

Up to 2k for now, but I prefer the 1k range. haha.

My current rum order:

Then customs and duties must still be added...probably another R1k.

Not a cheap "hobby", but I am a bit of a fanatic.

Whats the verdict on Don Papa? Had one of those the other day with Coke, and it surprised me. Not "rum" as I know it, at all.... got me curious about rum as a whole now.

Is it possible to get Lambs Navy Rum in this country?

A buddy of mine in the Navy used to able to get, but they have now run out of that.
Guess it's back to Red Hart.

Are there any Jamaican-style 'funky' rums available locally at sub-R1000?

I can only find Appleton, but I know Appleton is probably the least 'funky' of the Jamaican rums.
