Running an Ethereum Node

I've looked into it quite a bit, more for when ETH 2.0 is up and running. But I'm just mining for now. Hardware depends on what type of node your want to run and whether you're running a full node in full sync, fast sync mode or run a light sync node which doesn't store the whole blockchain - only block headers, and can get away with a tiny 64GB SSD and dinosaur spec PC. But that's really a waste. Start out with fast sync.

Full nodes that are also archive nodes will need around 8TB of SSD storage since you'll store all data mined since genesis block, while you can get away with 1TB for fast sync which is the most popular option it seems. You'll need at least a decent i5 and 16GB RAM. As with mining low latency is essential so forget LTE.

But with ETH 2.0 you will need to stake 32 ETH to be a a validator. Not cheap, but if you're invested it's nice passive income.

Cool, thanks!

I've been working on Web3 / Blockchain related dev projects and then was just curious if what it would be like actually hosting a Node.
