running photoshop in wine

The latest update of WinE is surprisingly good.
I run Windows games in it, performance is surprisingly good.
 
Thats great news! So there is no reason to install Windows then. What version of Linux are you running?
 
I run KUBuntu, update it all the time. Not even sure what the current version is. But yes I've run several games in WinE, the problem comes in trying to get the XBOX360 controller to work.

TBH though, I am getting far better results with MacOS, so in future I may not have a Linux machine anymore.
 
Either way.. I just want to move away from Windows. Good to hear the performance is good in wine.

This is what happened... about 12 months ago I tried to run Corel Draw in WinE and it didn't want to work, and was crap.
Then in January, after some major update that made my UI look different, I tried running my games for the hell of it, and I had to pick my jaw up from the floor, it worked, and damn well. All the games worked, running them directly from my Windows drive after mounting it. No mods, no nothing. I just clicked on the executables and WinE opened up and bang... it worked. The game changed the resolution of one of my screens so I had to re-set the screen setup after the game was terminated. That's the only annoyance.
I also recently got some embedded development tools that are Windows-only, to run flawlessly using this method.

You may have problems with device drivers for peripherals such as printers and scanners. I get around this by running xp in a virtualbox and accessing the problem devices from there. As I have this running, I just run my windows-based photo editing software in the virtual machine.

This is what I was alluding to in my last post... hence why I say I could not get the XBOX360 controller to work.
However, I have late model printers and they all work, its a simple process of adding them.

Canon's printers and scanners are the worst of the bunch for Linux compatibility, HP the best (in my experience).
