Is this possible at all? I don't want to run a separate screen but merely duplicate into another monitor as well....?

Looks like it uses an intel G41 chipset...

you need to explain a bit more. What motherboard do you have?

If there's only one socket at the back for a monitor then it's unlikely. You do however get video splitters which will suit your purpose

eh doubt it with that gear. onboard gfx is generally a dead end for multi monitor.

Modern dedicated GFX can run multiple monitors though.

What video outputs does that motherboard have? Typically they can do 1 digital and one analog output simultaneously. My guess is that your motherboard has only VGA out.

Some of the newer (eg Sandy Bridge) motherboard models come with like 3 video outputs and you can then actually output 2 digital signals simultaneously!
Like my colleague is running 4 digital 23" FHD monitors: 2 via onboard and another 2 via nvidia gts250

Yeah sorry this is a work PC which is something I cannot fiddle with internally. I have tried looking what the components are but most of the pc is so locked down you can't source much info.

This is by no means my home setup where I have built my last few PCs and it's quite enjoyable. Issue here is trying to see if I can set up some solution for a second monitor at work :/

Maybe this is what you want?

How far is the second screen else you may also need a keyboard/VGA/Mouse extender

I already bought a wireless keyboard and mouse combo which should suffice. The Vga cable will at least have to be 5M so that it can reach around the corners and look neat.

This is how the back of the PC looks:

I dunno if you are close to randburg but you can try cable link in syrdom park they might have dvi to vga splitter lol but i highly doubt you can run more than one monitor off. Very entry level mobo designed for entry level computing. That chipset does not do dvi seriously.

Seems possible but the only i can imagine is a vga splitter and i have no idea if you can something like that but cable link are pretty good, they keep tons of stuff. Phone the it department and request an upgrade :p

Thanks Killa :D They'll never upgrade the PCs at this point and I doubt they'll allow me to mod it to where I want it so I have to try and make it work and compromise. I will definitely try that splitter. I don't need awesome image quality for the most part. It's simply a case of convenience.

Just glad you could read that :D, yea well a 50 buck cable and you will know. That is if you can find one but i am sure cable link is your best bet, doubt you will find many shops carrying that sort of cable.

I know the guys at Netcare had custom BIOS' written for their machines, this was about 4 years ago. Otherwise motherboards generally don't support it.

Machine could easily be that old. Will see.
