Hey all ...


I am currently looking into hosting a Rust server because SA cannot have to many of them ... but so far the only place offering local servers at a price that sounds even remotely fair is: GameServers

The issue is that they are "out of stock" and will notify me when a server becomes available ...



Are there any other places that I can "rent" from apart from Multiplay themselves

Wherever you host, please make sure you get a server with more than 2GB RAM for hosting Rust servers.
 
Well if we rent a server I am hoping to get something decent but I am not sure if you need to use multiplay servers or if I need to get my own server via an ISP and then apply for the server files ... ... There is very little info about it all ...



Shirou, I am currently looking at GameServers but they say they have no more servers available and aren't sure when they will have ... which is pretty useless ... lol


I am part of gamers haven ... ... did you rent via gameservers ?

He is renting from them yea. The problem he has is the 2GB RAM on the server which is too little for RUST and which caused a server wipe to regain some RAM. Best would be to look at a host that has more RAM. Think that is the jusst of what Shirou and Keeper was talking about.
 
Yip, Multiplay only provides 1.6GB memory for all Rust servers currently, i am not sure what GameServers gives, hopefully more than that.
 
Oh wow, that really sucks !! ... ... And they expect to have 50 players on that .. haha


When you rent from them ... do they give you a pre-setup server and just hand you an IP ? ... or do they give you the server files to use at your leisure ? ... (I would prefer to rent a server from afrihost if I can get my hands on the server files)

hahaha if i had the server files i would have been looong gone from Multiplay dude :) i even tried my luck e-mailing facepunch and Garry to get them.

Multiplay only give you a controll panel to start/stop/ban/kick people and then ofc add mods and basicly controll your server on their platform, only thing you can see from the server files is the server config file.
