Hi,

My car a Honda Ballade - 1994 is letting in quite a bit of water - just took it to have the rubbers checked and they claim its rust underneath the rubbers that is causing the moisture to get in and referred me to a panel beater - is there anything I can do to stop the rust/seal the leaks - I think the guy was exagerrating vastly since he mentioned thousands of rands and it doesnt seem like a lot of work to me.

Any input?

Thanks
J

One can fix the rust quite easily with pratley steel but you will need to repaint it afterwards.

Which rubbers are these? On the doors? The rubbers could very well be perished. The weakest part of all cars are the rubber parts.

Rubbers on the doors/boot yes - pratley steel? - where can I find that? Also can you recommend a decent anti rust spray?

Thanks

I fixed rust holes on my mother's car with pratley steel, sanded it all down smooth and then I unfortunately had to take it to a spraypainter 'cos that's one thing that only they can do to make sure it lasts. I don't know how they do that so I cannot comment there. I know they use Duco paints and sometimes other German makes of paint.
