I've been playing Rust since alpha, and I've not seen much of a local hype on it.
Is anyone currently actively playing Rust? It's one of the fastest up-and-coming survivals, which is fully community driven and packed with hours of entertainment.

We have some awesome local servers up, and I'd love o see them get as full as the international ones.

Yea. Legacy used to be pretty huge. Since the new release it just seems that too many people are not playing it no more. We're a group of about 7 guys who play together. I only started playing again about a week ago as my old machine couldn't run the new version. Have to say I like the new one more. I know Keeper on MyBB also plays. Saw him yesterday and when I greeted him he ignored me... The bastard :D

I played an early alpha, loved it but got fed up with hackers spoiling what was a fun game.

Is it any better nowadays?

Heck yeah - Development is faster and better than ever :) The game runs smoother, and there are a tone of improvements and additions.

Hackers still doing their thing tho?

Hardly... Their anti cheat tools are now greater than, as well as custom antihack mods for the server.

I must say, finding a server with active mods and admins (Without abuse) is hard, yet worth it :)

It's a lot better now. Not so much of it going on. I haven't seen anything since I started playing again a week ago. Some servers are having insane lag at times though and the admins are claiming it's ddoss attacks.

Why is admin abuse such an issue though?

I don't mind if an admin builds a monster base fully upgraded and what not. They hardly ever part take in raids and such anyway.

You'd be surprised - I've been a part of servers where admins ban people because they're trying to attack the raid base...
Or friends of admins get teleported into the enemy base...
Or airdrops get called on specific players...

That's why I started my own server infrastructure... I've taken part in far too much bias.

O ok, I get it.

Thinking there are too many SA servers tbh. You get French servers with almost 200 people online. In SA you have about 20 servers with 6 players on each. Make a good server and people should flock to it.

Tried it when it was released many moons ago, got bored 5 hours in and haven't opened it since....

I and many others gave up on this game because, like all PVP survival games in SA, the local playerbase is just too hostile. Groups of 25+ players dominating servers by killing everyone they see and making it impossible for other players to get guns or better gear.

No thanks.

Pretty much the issue we had with DayZ. Back when I was running the NAG server we were full every weekend, then suddenly everyone and their cat wanted in on the action and we had 5 servers with 15 players on each.

I'm sorry you feel that way - Although most of the time it's really vanilla servers that allow that.
Opening it up to Oxide, and mods, allow server admins to set play-by-play rules, to get a more stable and entertaining gaming environment.

Hosting a server with mods is a bit more work, but well worth the time if you're willing to step on it.

@Pitbull true - just need to get the word out :)

Some servers have what they call a Bambi zone. Meaning you can built in a safe area and build up your character first before being pummelled. Not all servers have it though.

I'll check it out tonight. We play in a group of around 7 people. Should make it slightly more populated :p

Much appreciated :)

In our mind - at least for now - Rust is pretty volatile, and very prone to server wipes. So we've setup a 25x server, with instacraft.
While this may seem a bit outrageous, we've tested it, and come to a conclusion that it's the best time for entertainment environment.

We are open to community feedback, and will morph as needed to keep up with what people like.

We like the x X gather and instant craft. Don't want to spend weeks building a safe base before getting to actually enjoy the game. Sure 1 or 2 evenings to build and then get to the more fun parts like raiding, gun fights and the likes. Normal is just takes way to long to get yourself settled. I do think x25 is a bit much though. Most servers have x10. Bit I never played x25. We'll check it out, maybe it makes sense :p

Uhh... I'm not seeing any messages this side? :wtf:

If some of the gang is getting together for Rust though I will most certainly join in - I've been waiting for you guys.
Pitbull, Do you think Rust is ready now, development wise?
