Any of you okies live in Rustenburg?

Turns out that this here Moose will be in town for a couple of days!

I am pretty excited as I have never been to that part of the continent and need to know a few things?

1) Is there a good butchery there?

2) How safe is the town?

3) What attractions might I find of interest?

4) Do I need to bring my empty coolbox with?

5) Are there any good pubs there?

6) Are the local Afrikaaners as mal as the Afrikaaners in Bronkhorstspruit?

7) What areas do I need to avoid?

8) Can I drink the local water?

That's about all.......... any chance of their being a German or Scottish Butcher there?

4) Yes, we need more coolbox's
5) Yes, there is nothing else to do in the area
6) They're Afrikaaners, what do you think? :p
7) Most of them probably, for your own safety of course.
8) That is a bit of a touch and go question...
 
1) Is there a good butchery there? Yes but only two imho , one being in a shoddy area

2) How safe is the town? As safe as most S.A towns are, haha, jokes aside avoid leaving ANYTHING in your car.

3) What attractions might I find of interest? Kgaswane Nature Reserve, Magalies Canopy tours, Breedt`s Neck Pass etc.

4) Do I need to bring my empty coolbox with? Yes it`s a must have

5) Are there any good pubs there? Barrel and Bull (old Keg And Bull) Fires 2, Bosveld Steak Ranch, (I don`t have much time for Fires Though many people enjoy it)

6) Are the local Afrikaaners as mal as the Afrikaaners in Bronkhorstspruit? Ons is helemal f*kken mal!

7) What areas do I need to avoid? CBD

8) Can I drink the local water? Yes in Safari Gardens, Cashan extensions, Waterfall mall extensions, can`t comment on the other areas

I don't stay in Rustenburg, but can recommend the Mountain Sanctuary Park, about 38 km SE of Rustenburg:

Some good hiking trails, waterfalls and rock pools, if that's your kind of thing. Also has a pool and camp site / bungalows.

There is also the Buffelspoort dam nearby which looks quite scenic (and the Olifantsnek dam closer to Rustenburg), but haven't been to those yet.

Also, the Pilanesberg National Park is about 50 km North of there. Try get there early if you can, and plan to leave late afternoon (if you're a day visitor).
 
They have a great golf course there.
Yip just be weary in the CBD as with any city in SA it's crime ridden and with all the mine closures it's getting worse with the unemployment.
PS:- beware of the White Rabbit (it doesn't work)
 
A brewery! A friggin' brewery on Rustenburg! There's the cherry on top I be looking for.....

In essence, the meats good, they make beer, Don't feed the Afrikaaners and avoid the CBD!

I am leaving in 48 hours and will be spending a week in the town!

I will be bringing me coolbox and shall be returning with some crafty beers....

Is there a delivery service to get takeaway food delivered to our sports courts at night?

The mr.delivery website shows alles as being closed.

Last night we landed up driving pasta kfc that looked like a scene out of Mad Max and an African Zombie flick....... What chaos.... Landed up buying a loaf of bread from a quickshop..... Kids starving...

Want to deliver to the courts. Do the loacal eateries do it themselves?

Still stuck in this heatwave of a town and need to find a good safe pib to watch rugger on Saturday afternoon...otherwise I moght go a squat in the Spur , order a plate of chips and 16 draughts whilst the team watch the moving pictures!
