quite expensive , although maybe this is the going rate for something like this.
Rrp at the official Lego store is R7499.

A simple Google search would have led you the same conclusion.

Now that the nice car has been sold, I would like to hijack the thread for a moment.

At about R7500 new, it is R1100 more expensive than the brand new VW Jetta that I bought in 1981, for R6400. It's obvious that we can't compare a Bugatti to a Jetta, but; That was my first new car and I drove it for 12 years before selling it to the neighbour's son who also drove it for a good number of years. Don't think that a real Bugatti would do that

Do people who buy these usually resell them after building or do you just end up with R7000 worth of plastic blocks on your shelf?

So it depends. Some people choose it as a hobby. A project of this size can take about 30 working hours to build.
Some people will then break down and rebuild their sets continuously. Others build once and keep them as models.

Some people may resell, others hold onto it for some time hoping it will appreciate in value as collectors items.

For me personally, it's a reward. A huge achievement deserves a set. So when I look at the sets I have on display, it's a reminder of what I have achieved.
