S&P Global unexpectedly downgraded South Africa's credit rating outlook to stable from positive on Wednesday evening.

In an unscheduled announcement, the US credit rating agency cautioned that South Africa's economic growth is facing increasing pressure from severe electricity shortages.

Not even remotely surprised. For the last 30 years we have been warned and downgraded. But the Cyril goes on tour to get investors here in SA. The irony ....

Another ANC success story...

What downgraded to "stable" we are so far from a stable economy. I have to wonder why what is the reason these guys are so lenient on SA.

A stable outlook just means our rating is unlikely to change any time soon. Our rating is still speculative aka junk.

This downgrade is just in preparation for the next downwards level deeper into junk territory.

What there is more levels to go to for us, or is this now a side quest
