Hi. Yes you can connect your TV/laptop via cable to the repeater.

As for your 1st question I can't give you a definite answer as it is depends on location, obstructions, etc.

But to give you an idea - the signal in my bedroom was almost non-existent. I placed 1 of the these in my bedroom which is about at least 20m away from my router and also have about 3 walls in between & I now have a more than decent signal in that area.
