S3 4.3 Upgrade Problems

Hi,

Network: MTN
Phone: S3
Problem:

Upgrade to 4.3 on Sunday after prompt came up. After that when going to contacts it says "contact list is being updated"

Tried some solution on the net (removing google account and restarting it). Nothing work .

Anyone else with similar problems?

Yeah what is up with that BTW? Both my wife and I have S3's but I'm CellC and she's Vodacom. I updated both our phones on the same day (roughly 2 weeks ago) but several other people I know with S3's on Vodacom still can't upgrade?
 
I don't get it and I've been tweeting Vodacom but the replies sound like they haven't heard about something called firmware update. And I keep checking and everyday it says I'm up to date. And I was really looking forward to something fresh on the phone.
 
Thread necro.

Is 4.3 available on Telkom Mobile yet? I tried to use the India 4.3 firmware, but now the phone can't connect to the mobile network.

Looks like I'll have to flash 4.2.2 again.

It depends on the baseband that telkom uses but you could flash 4.3 from sammobile they have one for our market.

I did that, but now I get the "No Service" error and the IMEI is null.

I'm just wondering if anyone else flashed it successfully with 4.3 on Telkom Mobile.

What's making it worse is its my wife's phone which I was experimenting with and now she's using mine :D

That's the problem, I never made a backup. Someone somewhere mentioned that the modem of the new firmware is a massive problem. I'm going to try flash custom firmware and see how it goes.
 
Are you sure Grab "Phone INFO" from the play store. It can tell you what your previous CSC ect. That should help you find out which firmware to try on sammobile. I am running 4.3 on my phone xfv csc on MTn network.

EDIT: If you flash the new from make sure you wipe dalvik and flash cache and so forth otherwise you can end up with bugs. I had a boot loop once that I cured by flashing cache's.

Flash a different modem :). Worked with my Note 2
