Hello technical people.

Im a little indecisive between the S4 and S4 mini LTE versions.
Im not so worried about the price, but im not sure which device is best.
Im not a fan of the look of these 2 devices. So will only be using it for maximum 8-12 months.
Which is the better overall phone, form factor and specs.

If you don't like the look of the devices why not get the HTC One? or the Xperia Z for that matter?

S4 trumps the mini in every aspect (screen, hardware).

Thanks for the reply.
Do you know if the software and features are exactly the same, like the TV remote function, finger hover preview function, if you look away the video stops etc?

S4 Mini is really not a great deal. There are far better phones out there for the same money. R6000 for a 4.3" 960x540 screen? The Xperia V is a much better specced phone for around R4000.

Thanks, i see the V is also LTE.
13MP and 1.5 dual core.

I don't think the HTC Mini is available yet. The normal size one is though and it's beautiful and light. A work colleague has one. I have the Z if you have any questions. Most rugged phone I've ever had.

Remote function is there. The other features i havent tested. Maybe someone who has one can clarify. But trsut me, all those are gimmicks. You wont end up using them

Personally I would go for the mini because I put my cell phone in my pocket when I'm outside, the normal one makes it a little uncomfortable.

Just point of Reference getting a Phone with Mini in the title is like getting a 1.2 liter car instead of a 1.6.

sure its smaller and if you want that go for it. but dont ever think you are going to do the same thing as the 1.6 does.

that analogy works for almost any phone and its "mini" version.
but for the S4 and S4 mini its like comparing a 3liter Turbo to a 900cc one silinder engine. DONT TAKE THE S4 MINI EVER!

Wow, there's some drivel going on here. There's nothing wrong with the S4 mini. It's not a flagship device, but was never intended as such. Two biggest drawbacks to the S4 mini are that it isn't covered by the ADH warranty and that I don't think the LTE version is available in SA as yet - not that the S4 LTE is available yet either.

On the plus side, the S4 mini has a slightly smaller form factor - easier for one handed operation - and has a much better price.

The One Mini is due to launch internationally this week, not sure how long before we'll see it in SA though.

Im picking up the S4 LTE today.
I think the S4 will be the easiest to sell next year.
Oh well, thanks for the feedback.

But it's priced just below flagship, whereas the specs are very midrange. It's priced around the same as the S3 is now. There's nothing wrong with it at all, it's just overpriced for what you get.

Exactly - the specs are mundane for it's price to say the least.

It is R100pm, ie R2400 over 24-months, cheaper. That is about 30% cheaper than the current flagships, not exactly insignificant.

Excellent choice, especially since you're going to sell it, the GS4 LTE should fetch a much higher price than the Mini, Xperia Z and One. :)
