Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

A friend tried to update her MTN S4 to the latest Android. Failed.

This somehow resulted in a endless reboot, any advice how to perform a warranty safe flash of the rom (debugging is disabled)?

She can enter safe mode partially, it then freezes and begins the reboot loop again.

or would it be best to let MTN handle it?

Thanks

Try holding vol up plus power plus home to get to the recovery menu. From there do a factory reset. See if that helps. If not download the latest official Rom from www.sammobile.com and flash with Odin.

Had the same issue. It can be that the EFS partition got erased. If you do not manage to get it working with a different ROM, try flashing Cyanogen, and check the IMEI. If it is reset to the factory IMEI 0499xx then your only hope is to send it back to Samsung.

Is there a Samsung Store near you? If you have not rooted, you can always try them.

Sadly not. Will try flash it, does anyone maybe have a MTN S4 with which they can give me the details of the android they're running? i.e. PDA?

Hi why don't you try the Samsung kies Emergency recovery option?

Hey, i attempted the Kies, failed. Tried to use Odin also failed(bricked the phone it seemed, wouldn't even charge...), but managed to find a Samsung "center" near here, so luckily sorted in a few days.

Seems the friend let her battery die while it was updating...

Thanks for the help guys!
