s5 screen cracked

Yo, glad to see you came right as I am in exactly the same situation. My S4 slid off my lap last night while I was sitting at my pc at home. Ironically, if I had just let it fall, it would've landed on the carpet with no harm done. I tried to catch it though and must've squeezed it against the side of the chair at just the wrong angle. This has resulted in a hairline crack and the screen is now screwed.

My contract is near an end so it should still be within the 24 month period but I never registered the device (nor did I know about the app). Also, I doubt I'll find all the paperwork for the phone so I'm hoping against hope that I can just take it in, they check the IMEI number and repair it free of charge.

Going to call Samsung at Canal Walk at 09:00 when they open.
 
So the inevitable happened and my screen is no badly damaged. What is the route that I would have to go through to get it fixed?

go to samsung, if you cant instal the APP then SMS REG*Your IMEI NUMBER# to 34622
If that s not possible they pretty cool I've seen some people get it repaired with out any of this being done
