SA Broadband Services Price Comparison

Looks good, just one Q - in the notes at the end, "4GB - R879" - is that correct? If so, why on earth would anyone get 4GB when they can get 2 * 3GB for R379 less?

The more I think about it, the more a 24hour [daily] traffic limit [minimum 1GB] makes sense from the POV of protecting "the network" from "abuse".

We all should know by now that a set monthly cap is designed to maximize [Telkomonopoly] profits, but shaping in addition to a cap is just evil...especially considering what WBS does with iBurst - TCP/IP [and everything that's layered on top including http] is shaped at times...:(

I think people can clearly see that Vodacom 3G is a complete ripoff. I mean, the most expensive package there is for only 3gig? Yea right, im sure V3g know where they can go shove their 'R1700-odd' fee.
 
I think V3G (and the other cell provider 3G packages) are very competitive when you look at 3G prices in other countries. 3G in SA isn't really meant to compete with the fixed broadband providers, its main focus is on people who require maximum mobility rather than maximum bandwidth. I doubt Vodacom et al will lower their prices if the fixed providers do because they are not really competing for the same markets. At the end of the day you're not forced to pay Vodacom anything.

This is just my view, I don't work for Vodacom or any mobile provider just in case anyone wondered ;)
 
I agree with Perdition. I think that while as a replacement for a fixed line solution like ADSL, Voda3G is too expensive, it is still good value for those people who require connectivity while mobile.
