JOHANNESBURG - Eskom CEO Brian Molefe says nuclear power makes financial sense and South Africa can't do without it in the future.

During an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News, Molefe discussed the importance of nuclear energy, not just for South Africa, but for the whole continent.

Molefe says the United States has been using nuclear energy without any disasters.

Obviously doesn't know about about the Three Mile Island accident! :wtf: Highlights once again that Eskom have no idea what they are doing.

Translation: "Numba1 cannot do without the money".

They won't even get built. In 20 years time all there will be is a huge hole in the ground where a power station should have been and an enormous hole in SA's bank balance. They can't build a coal fired power station. What chance a nuclear?

They are an African folly of gargantuan proportions

An accident that caused no injuries or deaths.

Since we are speaking of the dangers about electricity generation in the US, lets look at the numbers:
Does any energy source kill a significant number of people? In a post from last year, we discussed human fatalities by energy source (How Deadly Is Your Kilowatt?), and how coal is the biggest killer in U.S. energy at 15,000 deaths per trillion kWhrs produced, while nuclear is the least at zero. Wind energy kills a mere 100 people or so per trillion kWhrs, the majority from falls during maintenance activities (Toldedo Blade).
Forget Eagle Deaths, Wind Turbines Kill Humans

Brian Molefe is allegedly the guy who irrationally cancelled Optimum Coal's deal at the last minute allowing the Guptas to take over the company for a song. If this is true, he is highly suspect. The Gupta's also own Shiva Uranium which would benefit massively from a nuclear roll out. Put two and two together and marvel at how the media gives this man any credibility at all without question. He was, of course, a Zuma (but probably Gupta?) appointee.

This.

And all of our citizens think that coal grows back into the voids left by mining.
You will be surprised to know how little is left after 100+ years of mining.
Quite a few countries have joined this club already.

Nuclear, properly implemented, is the answer for South Africa. New build contracts should be handled by our nuclear experts though, not our semi-literate president.

That is one of the most retarded articles I have ever read.

It is so selective on information.

**** humans, there are 7billion of these **** ups... Look at the damage done to the planet... Chernobyl... Fuukushima... Yes... No comeback whatsoever.

Furthermore on the retardedness - yes, it deserves a made up word, because it is made up bull**** to easily trick susceptible minds. It is completely irrational to multiply the electricity generation by the amount of people that died. Dying on a wind farm? We need these humans to die. It is nature, and it is called natural selection. It is the same reason why retarded cats will die when running to attack rottweilers. Those that are not fit to live, die. There's even a program on TV for minds seeking entertainment called 1000 ways to die; that is why 14 fools died in wind turbines.

"Nuclear is so fantastic, omg, so fantastic, yay yay yay!!" ? Look here: http://www.denverpost.com/2016/05/2...lants-but-still-face-70k-ton-disposal-burden/

The other day in Durban the beaches were closed because medical waste had been dumped in the oceans.

It was also reported that SA was in the market for big-waste-producing nuclear plants. IF the USA which is "So amazing and fantastic, wow yay!" can't handle their waste. What do you think SA will do?

How many governmental operations are properly implemented? Why is the most corrupt minister in charge with the contract? Is Tina Joemat Peterson suddenly going to change her ways?

It is certainly not in any shape or form "THE ANSWER"... You know why, cause there is no f***ing question. That's why.

Is there anything out there that isn't a risk?

The problem with Nuclear power is that, if there is a disaster, it could render large areas of land uninhabitable for decades...

My instinct is that in another decade or two those countries that went nuclear will be widely regarded as the wise ones. France is a shining light, imv.
