A family member of mine is one of the career diplomats that normally end up having to sort out some of the **** the political appointees cause. Its a 24/7 job. He was once stuck - unable to be posted to his new assignment - because the Mbeki-era appointee refused to vacate his office. (Something about losing the monthly flights to New York)
