South Africa does not need “another Mandela”, according to political analyst and author Moeletsi Mbeki.

Speaking at a Cape Times discussion around his newly launched book, Advocates for Change, How to Overcome Africa’s Challenges, in Cape Town On Wednesday, Mbeki said there was a new trend in African politics in which young people had moved far ahead of their older counterparts and were charting their own path.

Shame we can't have this man as president.

No he is right.

It's time we get a person who is a brilliant leader and very well educated in the fields of Economics and foreign trade.

Wealth redistribution doesn’t solve problems. What solves problems is raising skills and creating better opportunities,” Mbeki said.
So what did he do during his two terms of presidency to address that? This is just a politician being a politician, telling people what they want to hear.

Um, this guy has never been president... yet.

Are you confusing him with his brother?

LOL !!!

/facepalm

*you know this isn't Thabo Mbeki that wrote this right? :D*

every time this man opens his mouth the more my respect for him increases

On the wealth tax for rich white South Africans punted by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mbeki said this was not the solution for the country.

“Wealth redistribution doesn’t solve problems. What solves problems is raising skills and creating better opportunities,” Mbeki said.

I've been fortunate enough to be in the audience of a couple of talks by M.Mbeki...all I can say is "Give that man a Bells!"

If half of the ruling party can think like him, our country would be on the track of greatness.

I would agree with both. But I do think Motlantle is the obvious choice here.

He has what it takes to lead this country forward and reclaim the ground lost when they made Zuma president.

I think that since Mandela the president does not run anything anymore but rather the heads of the ANC, so the president does not matter its the head ANC members that need to change...

He likely won't dance to the nationalize EVERYTHINGZ tune either so what now?

Was speaking to a buddy of mine that is a ways up in the ANC hierarchy. He was very interested in my opinion on Motlantle, says it's kinda already in the pipeline.

This is also hearsay but apperantly when Motlantle enters a room people stop facebooking and chatting because they still have respect for him.

With others they dont care...

LOL in the same conversation he told me Zille intimidates him, When she walks into the room he feels like a naughty schoolboy.
