SA economy 'evaporating'

Government is doing sweet F-all to try and rescue the situation, we are talking of thousands of homes being reposessed, businesses folding left right and centre, and people (skilled ones at that) fleeing out of the country at an alarming rate. Not to mention that this is resulting in massive job losses in a country that already has amongst the highest unemployment rates.

perhaps this is what they want? become another Zimbabwe

The title is incorrect, it should read "opinion is" since the article is a survey, and not based on any empirical evidence.

Our economy is not decoupled from the rest of the world, if it was not for the rapid increase in the oil price we probably would not be having the trouble we are having now. Let's keep in mind that most of the world is experiencing the same problems we are and for many of the same reasons.

White and Indian South Africans have a manic-depressive attitude towards their country.

Oh, and one last thing, boom / bust cycles are part of a capitalist system - if you want something more consistent then maybe try communism.
