SA fast food payment systems breached by Dexter malware

Good news is that card holders who have been affected by this security breach have not lost money.

Volker explained that the banks absorbed the losses incurred through this security breach.

WTF? How would my bank know whether my card was used fraudulently or not if I didn't report it to them? These guys were cloning cards.

Very interesting, my bank contacted me earlier this year when I made online purchases and they wanted to confirm every online transaction I did for a past month. I never gave any of my information, but merely answered yes or no questions for given date of transactions they had.

At this rate we will be back to cash one of these days...

I'm essentially already there, hardly use my card anymore unless I do not have cash on me. I just do not trust the banks and with all their fine print its never their problem.

Bank fraud systems are pretty top class. Chances are that their fraud department would pick it up before you do. I think however, they would call you to confirm fraudulent activity if they did pick something up.

Last week my card was used to book air tickets, called the bank and still waiting for my card to be replaced.

Purchased from a major outlet with credit card once, a month later, received a marketing letter in the post asking if I want to get an account. So the personal data is been collected no matter there is malware or no malware. :erm:

WTF is wrong with news these days?

You have a guy telling me pos systems were breached but he refuses to tell which companies were compromised.Am i suppose to just believe this ****.

Aaaah so that fat premier from Limpopo didn't spend R50k on food in three months, it was malware instead of Tupperware..................

What would you suggest? Shall we "interrogate" him with a rubber hose or waterboard him until he spills the beans?

Good plan. Post videos too.

Yoh, I just got my Cheque card from the bank to start buying stuff online. I have used it like 4 times already this year, I hope it didn't fall in the hands of this new malware.

Hahaha I'm canning myself here :D

They obviously have not heard of firewalls or IDS/IPS systems :(

Default Passwords on the POS and open ports used for Remote Support of these devices.

Virus was possibly coded to scan the internet for these ports and use Default credentials to access the infomation.
